Louis Iacona

My name is Louis Iacona and I am an addict. My story starts off similar to many I know. I grew up in Massapequa, New York where I played sports, and ran around the neighborhood like most other kids. My recreational drug use quickly grew into something I was unable to control. The innocence of a young boy was ripped away and an addict was born.

My passion lies in my story, my experience, strength, and my hope. At the age of 25 years old, after 39 failed attempts at getting sober, 9 overdoses, and multiple encounters with jail, I did what at the time I believed was impossible… I got sober. In a world where drugs and alcohol are so prevalent, I decided to put myself in between the grips of addiction and fight back.

I write for the individuals, families, friends, and loved ones affected by alcohol/substance abuse. The ink spills from my heart and through my pen for an insightful experience of what I lived. I stand before you as one of your own. As a former student, athlete, child, and now a young person in recovery. My story is my own and I hope to reach not just one but the millions of people affected by the disease of addiction.
